One way for EVS teams to reduce costs is to invest in "green" equipment that use less water and no chemicals.

Cleaner Floors, Less Water, No Fumes

Floor-cleaning and refinishing is a necessary chore for the workplace and plays an important role in keeping workers and patients healthy. However, it can be a source of waste and cause injury. One EVS team looked to reduce both and invested in a technologically advanced floor-cleaning machine that used no chemicals and less water. They were able to cut their floor-cleaning costs in half—nearly $10,000—and did not have an injury associated with the new machines. The cleaning process also produced fewer fumes and took less time.

Here's What Worked

  • Investing in high-tech equipment
  • Reducing the use of chemicals and consumption of water
  • Creating a safer workplace
